Many British citizens grant Spanish wills to dispose of their assets in Spain. An English version of the Spanish Will is normally prepared so that the testator understands the contents of the Spanish Wil. However, this English version is not a sworn translation. It is for information purposes only. In most cases, the English version has been drafted by someone who can speak English and Spanish but he or she is not a sworn translator.
If the Spanish Will needs to be submitted to the relevant authorities in the UK, a sworn translation of the Will into Spanish must also be submitted. A sworn translation of the Spanish Will into English may be necessary if the deceased had assets in the UK but did not grant an English Will because she or she was domiciled in Spain
A sworn translation is the translation of any document which needs to serve as legally valid document.
Only sworn translators can produce sworn translations. The sworn translator acts as a commissioner of oaths when producing sworn translations.
Sworn translators are experts in the legal terminology and the two legal systems involved (Spanish and English in this case) and therefore they will produce accurate translations.

Muchos ciudadanos británicos otorgan testamentos españoles para disponer de sus bienes en España. Normalmente, se preparará una versión inglesa del testamento español para que el testador pueda entender los contenidos del testamento español. Sin embargo, la versión inglesa no es una traducción jurada. Se prepara únicamente con efectos informativos. Si se tiene que remitir el testamento español a las autoridades relevantes en el Reino Unido, también se debe presentar la traducción jurada del testamento al español. Se necesitará la traducción jurada del testamento español al inglés si el fallecido tenía bienes en el Reino Unido pero no otorgó un testamento inglés porque residía en España.
