Following the latest national lockdown and the closure of schools announced this week, the government has updated its furlough guidance to confirm that employers can furlough employees where:
- Their health has been affected by COVID
- They are clinically extremely vulnerable and following public health guidance to shield
- Have caring responsibilities such as caring for children who are at home as a result of school closures.
These updates should remove any confusion for employers of parents who were previously unclear on whether the CJRS allowed furlough due to school closures.
