Following it’s announcement last week that it would be making 18,000 job cuts worldwide Amazon has today confirmed that it shall be closing 3 of it’s warehouses in the UK placing 1,200 jobs at risk in this country.
The Company will be closing warehouses in Hemel Hempstead, Doncaster and Gourock over the course of the coming months. Amazon has confirmed that this decision was entirely unrelated to the wider job cuts so there is a chance that further cuts in the UK could follow.
Amazon employs approximately 70,000 staff in the UK and states that it hopes to be able to offer some of the affected staff positions at alternative sites in the UK.
